Designing for Purposeful Collective Futures.

Hi, I am Daisy Wu 👋

I use systems thinking and data to design meaningful services for the public and charity sectors, turning diverse insights into long-term social impact.

Notable organisations I work(ed) with

"What sets Daisy apart is her ability to navigate the complexities of a fast-scaling project with maturity and strategic insight…This demonstrated not only her leadership and commitment to the project’s health but also her capacity for self-development as she synthesised these challenges into valuable organisational learnings… She possesses an extraordinary ability to listen and incorporate diverse perspectives, ensuring that our sociocratic governance remains effective and inclusive. Her presence brings a balance of creative energy and technical architectural detailing that has consistently impressed our team of architects, ecologists, and engineers."

Nathan Miller, East London Waterworks Park

"Daisy has built a site that encompasses our brand image, is creative, modern and easy for our visitors to navigate. Whilst staying within our brief and bringing professional technical support and expertise, she has also brought many new ideas and concepts to the table that we wouldn’t have otherwise had. She is punctual, hard-working and a clear communicator within a team."

Naomi Johns, The Bird of Prey Project

"Daisy showed remarkable initiative in finding and bringing new members into the research group. Her ability to reach out, engage others, and communicate the project’s aims effectively helped expand and strengthen the team. She also played a key role in helping the team think through processes and research areas, offering thoughtful suggestions that improved both the structure and clarity of our work."

Social Innovation

How might we create equitable and inclusive solutions that empower underserved communities and amplify unheard voices?

I pursue this by designing with people through genuine collaboration, using systems thinking to create sustainable, community-owned change.

Hackney Council

Designing Substance Use Prevention That Embeds, Integrates, and Goes Further

For my master’s dissertation, I worked with Hackney Council to tackle challenges in substance‑related harm prevention by researching policies and interviewing stakeholders. I analysed the findings and proposed a community-led, integrated approach that could fit within the existing system.

Delivery as Design: Lessons on Scale, Ownership, and Scope

Despite a very tight timeline and limited prior experience in this area, I took ownership of "Green Skills Week", assembled a volunteer team, and designed a one-week, hands-on programme for 16–18-year-old cohorts. However, after delivery, the project was paused, prompting deep learning around capacity, scale, and designing responsibly within organisational constraints.

Reimagining Rural Healthcare Through Systems Thinking

This project explores how rural healthcare in India can be strengthened through a community-led, systems-based approach. By integrating ASHA workers, telemedicine, and mobile clinics, it proposes a flexible service model that builds trust, improves access, and responds to local cultural and structural challenges.

Community Engagement and Empowerment

How might we design community engagement that empowers people to influence and sustain the systems around them?

I do this by understanding the systems that shape participation and designing structures that enable shared ownership, collective decision-making, and long-term involvement.

UKGovCamp

Inviting New Voices and Designing for Participation and Change

UKGovCamp is an annual unconference where people from government, public services, and the civic sector come together to share ideas and explore ways to make government better. As a service designer, I helped make the event inclusive, accessible, and welcoming, and fostered collective participation and long-term impact.
